About

OUTREMER 45

Performance, Pedigree, and Comfort

Delphine is a winner! She won her division at the inaugural Caribbean Multihull Challenge in St Marten and twice won the catamaran division in Grenada Sailing week. Light displacement, narrow hulls and daggerboards allow for impressive speeds, even in light winds.

The cockpit is well-protected for safe sailing in open water and comfort at anchor. The salon and nav station occupy the light, airy main living area. The u-shaped settee has overstuffed cushions and large dining table for entertaining. She has a unique layout with a huge galley down in the aft starboard cabin. An ample double stainless steel sink keeps things tidy. Any chef will admire the privacy, the amount of counter space for prep work and the storage arrangement. There is a twin bunk midships and a single cabin forward. The port side is the owner's space and includes a fresh water, electric head.

The Gerard Danson designs are considered by some to be the perfect combination of speed and comfort .The long slender hulls track very well and enable good speeds on passages a steady 8-10 is not unusual and the upper teens have been achieved with out fuss. The Outremer 45 is one of the most popular, sought after models on the used market.

Thrilling under sail and comfortable at anchor. What more do you need?

Delphine is a very well cared for sailing machine to be enjoyed by the adventurous sailor.

Message from the Owner

When we purchased Delphine a thorough refit of key elements of the boat was done including taking the hull down to gelcoat (below waterline and coat it with west epoxy.) New bushings for the rudders were installed ( spare set on board). The sail drives taken apart and rebuilt including the membranes, the fuel tanks emptied and cleaned as well as new fuel and water pumps .After the initial baseline work was done we continued to improve the boat each year as needed/wanted this included ,engine controls the fitting of the serpentine belts ,new mixing elbows the 120 amp alternators(2019) with serpentine belts and balmar regulators, and the rebuild of the windlass (2020) .

The engines are flushed with fresh water after haul out and the oil is changed every year even of the hours don’t require it . The outboard is serviced every year and stored in a climate controlled location along with the tender. New sails were bent on at time of purchase and are stored in a climate controlled environment for the nine months of the year they are not in use .sun covers that are a godsend while at anchor and the back screen (2022).

One of the reasons that Delphine looks so good is the fact that it has a custom storage cover that is also stored in climate controlled area.the running rigging was changed at this time. We have continued to improve Delphine with updated electronics, including chart plotter , vesper x8000 Ais ,speed depth and wind , programable dual voltage 60 amp charger victron solar controllers ,smart shunt 1200 watt 110 inverter and battery monitor. We also put on a new auto helm pump in 2022 and new ACR relays last year. The upgraded solar array on a tilting custom rack ,now sends 960 watts of charging into the NEVER used Victron lithium 300 amp hour battery bank. This amount of power lets us make toast in the morning, water all day ice as needed and keeps the custom fitted Engle drinks cooler in cockpit running. My wife also uses a blow drier. She also likes the freshwater electric flush head. The 230 volt inverter runs the the washing machine.

Other work done has been the solid handrails from stern to shrouds the inner stern cleats with stainless gussets for Med mooring ,passeral locators on the transoms custom swing out mount for chart plotter , receptacles for accepting both 110/230 .
Changes inside include new freezer location ,mahogany library with drawer for charts ( yes I still use them) drawers in each hull forward ,medicine cabinet ,covers for electric winches , and dropdown cutlery drawers in galley (I made them) I also fit the dyneema front net ,re bedded the acrylic on all the hatches ,changed the self tacking system to something the works .
In the cocpit we built a locker for an Engle drinks cooler which will freeze if needed, turn wet lockers in to dry and fitted a teak grate in front of companionway . The chain locker was made bigger to accept the 180 feet of chain . The hatch over what we call our bunk was increased in size (2020).

The copper coat bottom paint works well and was well worth the money.

This work was all done and continues to be done by licensed professionals on Grenada .
In short instead of one big refit we have made improvements every year . Including 2023 when the standing rigging was all changed and the new lithium was fitted .

A final note in the 12 years we owned her 4 of those seasons she never hit the water and the other 8 were 3 month stints . That is why I suggest the sails are in very good condition along with the canvas etc.

Sailing History

After we purchased the yacht I was looking at a 2004 copy of Multihull international and saw our boat on the cover, the article inside stated that she had one that years ARC. I had seen her previous owner sailing it near Bequia years before and had admired her then. My wife and sailed her up the Caribbean from as far as Anguilla with stops all along the way. She is a comfortable boat for cruising with a deep safe cockpit is easily handled by two and has enough creature comforts for cruising .We also won our division at the inaugural Caribbean Multihull Challenge in St Marten and twice won our division in Grenada Sailing week .
Delphine is a wonderful sailing boat that turns heads everywhere we go and has treated us well during the 12 years and 5000 miles we have sailed her, safe ,strong and fast enough for most sailors.

She was built by sailors for sailors and will take you wherever you may wish.

We take pride in our happy customers

Excellent communication.

We had a great purchasing experience with The Multihull Company. Got us into the boat we really wanted, our broker Josie was amazing, she walked us through the entire process, negotiated the deal we wanted and gave us great advice throughout. If you are looking to purchase a boat we can’t recommend them enough.

— Roger Matros

It’s been a few weeks now and the dust has settled. We had a great experience with the Multihull Company and in particular our broker, Caroline Laviolette. Caroline was happy to share her knowledge of the market and the catamarans we were interested in purchasing. She was patient and thorough as we looked at several boats in SE Florida, helped us narrow our search and eventually purchase a beautiful 2017 Lagoon 42. Many thanks to the team at The Multihull Company!

We had a great experience purchasing our boat with Will Miller as a buyers agent. Purchasing our first large Cat is a daunting experience and Will was able to walk us through the process with ease. Will was very straight forward and constantly gave us honest feedback as well as finding and pointing out details on all the boats that we may not have noticed or thought about.

We had a great experience and would use them again.

I would specifically recommend a buyers agent when purchasing to help weed through a lot of problems and misrepresented boats on the market.

— Anthony Nappa

We have had great experiences with the Multihull company. We both sold our old boat through them, and bought our new boat through them. I have to say that Will Miller is top-notch, and Riley was great as our broker for selling our O day 39. when you buy a Salt or Boat through them, I feel like you are not only clients, but you are friends. The lines of communication were always open and we were always informed of everything going on.
